# MultiBit Online

MultiBit is the discontinued Bitcoin desktop wallet (2011–2017) with two versions: **MultiBit Classic** (individual private keys in a `.wallet` file, no seed phrase) and **MultiBit HD** (a 12-, 18- or 24-word seed phrase — 12 and 18 appear more commonly in recovery documentation — stored in `mbhd.wallet.aes`). This independent site explains both wallets, how to recover bitcoin from forgotten passwords and lost seeds, how to export keys, and how to move funds to modern wallets like Electrum. The current multibit.org domain is not the original project archive; downloads are listed only from preserved original release records.
